OGDEN — A West Haven man is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in 2017.
George Emil Mock, 49, was booked in jail Wednesday on charges of sodomy on a child and aggravated sexual abuse of a child, both first-degree felonies.
On Oct. 19, 2017, Weber County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a sex offense in West Haven, according to a probable cause statement. A 12-year-old girl told her mother that Mock had touched her inappropriately a few hours prior.
The girl was interviewed at the Weber-Morgan Children’s Justice Center where she told investigators that she woke up to Mock touching her, according to the statement.
After she detailed the alleged sexual assault, investigators conducted an exam where “multiple swabs” were collected from the girl.
The girl’s brothers, who are also juveniles, said they saw Mock enter the girl’s bedroom and later heard her crying, according to the probable cause statement.
Later, a search warrant was approved on an unnamed date for investigators to collect DNA samples from Mock, which included his saliva and swabs from under his fingernails and in his beard, the statement says.
The samples were taken to the Utah State Forensic Laboratory for testing. Investigators found that human saliva found on the victim belonged to a man, and the victim’s DNA matched swabs taken from underneath Mock’s fingernails, according to charging documents.
On Wednesday, Mock was taken into custody after police received the reports from the state laboratory. After being read his rights, Mock invoked his right to an attorney and did not answer questions from police, according to the probable cause statement.
Mock is being held at the Weber County Jail in lieu of a $45,000 bond, according to jail records.
He has yet to be formally charged in Ogden’s 2nd District Court.
